Classics for you! – Bringing classical music into young people’s lives.
Classics for You!
In 2026, the project Classics for You! will be launched. The aim is to reach lower secondary and upper secondary school students in the Stockholm region, as well as those who will be reached digitally through curated playlists. The playlists are selected by young people in the Concert Hall’s newly established youth council – the very age group we aim to reach through this project.
Stockholm Concert Hall aims to bring classical music into a natural place in young people’s lives by presenting it live in short concerts where young people are, sparking their curiosity and interest, and inviting them into a world of music both as listeners and co-creators.
It should be easy to access and listen to classical music, as well as to take part in creating it. To reach schools and other places where young people gather, concerts will be performed in spaces such as school entrance halls, skate park cafés, sports halls, or youth centres. Through Classics for You!, music will come to them in ways that feel natural and engaging for a young audience.
Composers in the classroom
There are many ways to quickly get young people started with creating music. It is not about learning notation in a single day, but about learning to analyse soundscapes and structure them schematically, using a range of timbre and rhythm instruments, guided by an educational composer who can help them shape their own ideas into music.
At a glance
Stockholm Concert Hall aims to give young people the opportunity to access the classical repertoire – the masterpieces of classical music – by bringing them into their world, their everyday lives, and the places where they meet, in various ways.
In addition, they are given the opportunity to become co-creators of music – gaining insight into how music is composed through composer workshops, and the chance to perform their own works at the Concert Hall.
