Kungliga Operan

Pilot project in spring 2026.

The Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s national stage for opera and ballet – a mission that entails reaching the entire country, not just the capital. During the years when the opera house will be closed for renovation (2027–2032), a unique opportunity arises to deepen and expand this mission in new ways.

Through Unga Operan, which for over two decades has created meaningful performing arts for children and young people, we aim to take a decisive step: to meet children in all 290 municipalities across Sweden.

The pilot project in spring 2026 marks the beginning of this long-term initiative.

The Royal Opera is Sweden's national stage for opera and ballet and was founded by King Gustav III in 1773.
