Signatur – Foundation Sweden has been in existence since 2018, when the London based organisation The Karlsson Játiva Charitable Foundation (KJCF) launched the Signatur Programme.  The aim was to promote music in the UK, Sweden and the rest of Europe by supporting relevant charitable projects and organisations.

In order to fulfil its objectives in Sweden and the Nordic countries, KJCF founded Signatur.  A donation from KJCF formed the basis of Signatur’s first work plan, and since then KJCF has awarded new grants annually to fund project activities in Sweden.

The first grants in the Swedish Signatur Programme were awarded in 2018.  Since then, our operations have expanded gradually.  The Board, which originally consisted of three members, now has 5 members, and in addition to the position of Programme Manager for project activities in Sweden, the foundation also employs part-time staff for administrative and communications work.

Since 2023, Signatur works out of office premises in Enkehuset on Norrtullsgatan in Stockholm.

The organisations that have previously received support from Signatur include:

Malmö opera/Region Skånes Kulturförvaltning, Centrumskolan in Växjö/Sexton Strängar, El Sistema Sweden, Non profit association ALMA, Drottningholm Palace Theatre , Järna Festival Academy, Lund Cathedral, Konserthuset Stockholm, Non profit association Scenit, The Royal College of Music, Linnaeus Univerisity, Musik i Syd, The UTOM think tank, Sundbyberg Municipality, ShareMusic & Performing Arts, Länsmusiken in Stockholm, Stockholm NU Jazz festival, Dream Orchestra, Svenska Kammarorkestern/Di Piu foundation, Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan Stockholms län, Folkteatern Gävleborg/Scen:se/BIBU, Help Ukraine Gothenburg (HUG), YOMA – Young Musicians’ Academy.
